You will learn a range of ICT skills that will help develop your overall knowledge and understanding of the ICT world. Skills like animation design, website development, hardware component knowledge, database designing and spreadsheet modelling.
Along with these valuable skills you will also discover what is required to work in the IT industry and how communications in ICT have developed over the last few years.
The 7 units that you will be studying are:
Communications in IT Industry*
Working in the Industry*
Mobile Communications Technology
* These are core units.
Not only will you develop your understanding and knowledge of ICT but you will also develop your awareness of some of the social issues that affect your world today. These issues will be discussed within a 1 hour tutorial session that you will be expected to attend each week. Tutorials are also a chance to review your progress individually with your Personal Coach so you know exactly what you have to do to achieve both your personal and academic goals.
All students who enrol on this course will also be enrolled onto Functional Skills Maths & English.

A full range of teaching and learning methods will be used in lessons to help you achieve. The main emphasise in lessons is on the students particiapating in fun learning activities which enhance the learning experience for all. ICT can be fun!!!
Students work is evaluated throughout the course by continuous assessment, comprising of assignments, observed practical skills, which contribute towards a portfolio of evidence.
Applicants are expected to have gained at least 4 GCSEs at grade D or GNVQ Foundation in Information Technology (overall Merit preferred).
Applicants with equivalent qualifications will also be considered.
Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a command of both the English language and Mathematics.
Once you have successfully completed this qualification then you really do have several options of what to do next. You may wish to continue your studies by moving onto one of the two Level 3 programmes that we run – BTEC LEVEL 3 SUBSIDIARY DIPLOMA IN IT or if you are 19+ ACCESS TO IT. If it is finding employment that interestes you then by successfully completing this qualification it shows employers that you have excellent understanding of several aspects of ICT.
