Computer forensics involves the analysis of digital devices, such as hard drives, to identify and investigate their contents, whereas computer security uses skills and knowledge of computer systems and networks to protect businesses and users from malicious and illegal attacks.
The ever increasing use of digital devices and the risks posed by them has seen the disciplines of computer forensics and computer security start to merge as skill sets required for each are complimentary. Students with this dual skill set are ultimately in a position to undertake more rigorous forensic analysis, and also to implement more robust security mechanisms.
This degree is taught alongside our BSc (Hons) Computer Forensics course, providing you with the hands-on analysis and security techniques and procedures required to enter either industry. We’re dedicated to giving you the chance to gain plenty of hands-on experience of investigative and ‘hacking’ techniques and assessments are developed around these scenarios.
