This degree, which is nationally recognised as one of the major qualifications for work in this field, can be studied as a generic, practice or business management route.Students explore notions of childhood and practice within a multi-disciplinary context, including education, health and psychology. Each route provides opportunities to understand children’s experiences in diverse settings.
A unique feature of this course is the strong connection made between generic theory and professional work-based practice, characterised by placement opportunities. From Year 2 students can select a more specialised route reflecting their career aspirations and have the chance to study abroad. The practice route is recognised by the Teaching Agency and OfSTED as providing a “licence to practice’.
