The ability to speak another language whilst working in the tourism industry will allow you to develop your career outside the UK as well as enhancing your understanding of the culture and history of countries throughout the world. As a student in the only university to be a Centre for Excellence in Tourism in the UK, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of tourism, taking you through current trends and global issues in a world-class learning environment.
You will gain a sound ability to speak, write, listen and read the English language as well as acquiring a comprehensive knowledge of the British business environment, politics and culture. You will also learn translation and interpreting skills and gain specific subject knowledge to help you get the career you want.
The majority of your course will be studying English as a Foreign Language and you will also study additional modules from BA (Hons) International Tourism Management.
In the recent British Council inspection of our English Language Teaching provision in the School of Languages we are pleased to announce that we gained 8 points of excellence. This is an outstanding achievement and places us in the top 10% of British Council accredited Language Schools in the UK. Particular excellence was noted in teaching, teachers’ qualifications, academic management, learner training, premises and academic resources, the leisure programme and pastoral care.
