Positive Role Model Award for LGBT
An unprecedented 160 people nominated Grace for this year’s LGBT Positive Role Model award. The words used by her many and varied nominees – all people who have had the privilege to work with her either as a colleague or as a service user – speak of her tireless enthusiasm and passion in raising awareness and promoting LGBT rights through the Dumfries and Galloway LGBT centre, where she is currently based and more broadly throughout Scotland. Grace has been responsible for setting up key services and initiatives that have been heralded across the country, including the acclaimed LGBT Charter Mark Scheme. Recently Grace and her team developed a successful model to achieve LGBT equality in the Dumfries and Galloway region, that is so highly regarded it was showcased at an event hosted by the Government of the Netherlands in The Hague as an example of best practice.
