Who is the programme for ?
This programme is for students who want to develop their skills within the creative and media industries to prepare them for work or further study. You may have aspirations to work within the theatre, radio or television either as a performer or behind the scenes.
What does the programme include ?
During the programme you will explore and experiment with different areas of performance. You could be devising your own plays, performing on the stage, developing props, controlling the sound and light or acting for television or radio. You will also complete two weeks work experience, improve your numeracy, literacy and IT skills and complete a project which you will design.
What attendance is required ?
The programme is full time for one year starting in September and ending in June/July. The exact start days and hours depend on your timetable but you can expect to be in College four or five days a week.
Learning and assessment
You will learn in a variety of ways, including formal lessons, practical workshops and group work. Some projects will involve you in working with local employers as well as your teachers.
What qualifications will be achieved ?
You will achieve the Level 2 Diploma in Creative and Media, functional skills in Maths, English and ICT, the project qualification and the BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts.
What is required to join the programme ?
You will normally have 4 GCSEs at grade D or above, including English, maths and two other academic subjects. At interview you will need to demonstrate a keen interest in the media. You will be expected to bring with you examples of media work and two examples of your written work.
What can be achieved after the programme ?
After successfully completing the programme you can progress onto a range of other programmes at Level 3, including the Advanced Diploma or the Edexcel/A Level matrix.

Students aged 16 – 18 studying an LSC funded course will not be required to pay fees.
Students aged 19 and over will be required to pay a fee and to cover the cost of registration, consumables or supplements.
All course fees are payable at the time of enrolment. Alternatively you may be able to make payment by installments using a banker’s standing order (applicable only to fees over £150). If you are in receipt of a means tested benefit, you may be entitled to a reduction of fees and should bring evidence of your entitlement with you when you enrol.
Students aged 19 and over studying your first full level 2 or 3 qualification, you may be eligible for free tuition fees. For further information please contact the Information Centre in person or on (023) 9238 3131, select option 4.

Fees are charged annually. Current fees are subject to change.
The College reserves the right to terminate any course where there are insufficient enrolments or attending students to justify running the course.
