Right now, we’re looking for a Design Manager to take lead responsibility for all aspects of successful project design of our new schemes from the development to handover to our Asset Management team.

Here you will lead a design team and the design aspects of a portfolio of projects throughout the UK, carried out by external and internal service providers (ESPs and ISPs) under performance contract and competitive tender frameworks. You will be tasked with monitoring the Build Design team on time, cost, quality and safety performance and ensure that ESPs and ISPs are delivering the programme.  You will use your considerable design construction experience to minimise business and technical risk, ensuring schemes are delivered safely and to budget while also supporting continuous improvement of the Community Energy business.

Qualifications

What we need from you

  • Must have extensive experience in managing teams in an engineering / technical environment.
  • Knowledge of the application of CAD, computer assisted design, e.g. Energy Pro, and BIM.
  • Hazop/risk assessment practical application knowledge.
  • Knowledge and awareness of industry Health & Safety legislation requirements e.g. CDM and HASAW Regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant National, European and International design codes.

It would be great if you had

  • A degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline and working towards Chartered Engineer Status.
  • Experience in technologies pertaining to decentralised energy and district heating, including CHP.
  • Knowledge of standards pertaining to decentralised energy including for example: pressure system Regs, District heating design, boiler functionality & operation, chilled water systems, BMS/SCADA, water treatment, etc.

Additional Information                                       

This role can be based at either Newstead, Nottingham or Westwood, Coventry.

This is a permanent role.

Due to the nature of this role a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check may be required.
