6-12 Months Local HR Advisor

We have an opportunity to join or HR team based from our office in Leeds as a Local HR Advisor on a fixed term contract until November 2019,  this role could be either part-time or full-time.

As a Local HR Advisor you will be responsible for providing pragmatic and consistent guidance to People Managers, building strong relationships with the local business and act as an SME on behalf of HR.

We are looking to hire an adaptable and driven individual who has a good understanding of employment law and relations, has previous experience of complex HR cases and is comfortable working in a fast paced environment. This role will require regular travel to DLG offices in the South of England.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide pragmatic and consistent guidance to People Managers on Employment Policies and practices, escalated issues and attending formal meetings (discipline/ grievance) where the matter is complex.
  • Build strong relationships with the local business management teams to support them in shaping and achieving their local people plans.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a specific policy (or policies) and be accountable for communication and up-skilling within the HR team.
  • Identify issues or opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to the HRBP or business area as appropriate.
  • Keep up to date with internal and external developments in the field of Policy and Employment in order to continuously benchmark and adopt best practice
  • Provide local insights to HR Centres of Expertise and feed into service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Guide and pro-actively encourage the Location Co-ordination Team (LCT) and participate in meetings as required.

    Skills we are looking for

  • Knowledge of Employment law and employee relations
  • Experience of dealing with complex HR cases
  • Exposure to Change management
  • Ideally CIPD qualified however this is not an essential
