Full-Time Maintenance Assistant (Craftsperson)

Job Description

We are looking for a Maintenance Assistant to support our hard Facilities Services team based at the Royal Papworth Hospital just outside of Cambridge. Royal Papworth Hospital is a newly built 310 bed specialist Cardio Thoracic hospital on the science campus just outside Cambridge

You’ll:

Complete planned, routine, breakdown and reactive maintenance tasks across the hospital. This will include for example the following: work in plant rooms, on engineering services, medical devices (beds, trolleys etc), portable equipment, catering equipment and fixed plant or on building fabric related work
Determine what spares, components or supplies are needed to undertake and complete the work associated with repair, routing servicing or for new work.
Carry out a broad range of general building / handyperson maintenance tasks
Complete documentation associated with routine tasks
Occasionally work outdoors

We’re looking for:

Previous maintenance/handyman/caretaker experience
Knowledge of building services and general building maintenance
Evidence of working within health care premises would be advantageous (but not essential).
Team player
Ability to work on wards where patient care is of the highest importance, causing the least disruption as possible
Ability to occasionally deal with disgruntled customers in a tactful and respectful manner

Working Environment
Working Hours: 37.5 per week (typically 08.00 – 16.00), Monday – Friday with some flexibility to work overtime at weekends.
There is no parking on site, however, Park and Ride facility is available
