Processing Centre Operative

Purpose of the Role

The daily function of a processing operative is to be responsible for all sorting, batching and processing activities in the Processing Centre within Logistics, this function is currently paper based with the long term aspirations to be digital.

The operative will need to be flexible and easily able to transition within the tasks across the operational hours and able to operate within a section of Logistics to provide an efficient, secure, lean and cost effective end to end process to support the business.

Accountabilities

  • Ensuring service quality and efficiency goals are met within Logistics
  • Operating processing equipment, including X-Ray Machines, Letter Openers, Inserters & Scanners
  • Accurate sortation of all incoming mail including rough and fine sort, batch preparation (paper correspondence) and signed for/recorded items
  • Validate and scan paper correspondence to the correct queues
  • Quality Assure scanned batches to eliminate the risk of rescanning work and ensure high quality is consistent
  • Prepare, scan and archival of all physical, cherished and special/recorded delivery items
  • Handling of all requests via queues and mailboxes including customer communication
  • Routing of electronic documentation and linking to the correct claim (indexing)
  • Investigation & routing of electronic documents unable to link directly to claim (exceptions)
  • Data entry related activities
  • Deal sensitively with highly confidential information
  • Ensure distribution of mail (collections/deliveries) are completed daily around the site
  • Manual Handling (e.g. movement of mail and/or boxes)
  • The ability to balance high quality with high volume
  • Ensure all activities are delivered within Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Despatch all outbound correspondence utilising the most appropriate, cost effective service
  • Develop knowledge of all process centre procedures and processes, including developing a wider business knowledge whilst developing good working relationships
  • Ensure accurate collection of MI to the Senior Processing Operative
  • Co-ordinate ad hoc local courier requests
  • Identify, highlight and help deliver improvement opportunities to line management (e.g. Lean)
  • Positive demonstration of the Group values
  • Volunteer and undertake regulatory testing for business continuity
  • Attend and participate in touches

  • Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriate to role, in line with the DLG Insurance risk framework
  • Managing the storage, retrieval and destruction of items held within department in line with DLG policies, also to include the control of all physical items received

Working operational hours (8 hours per day) between 07:00 (7 am) – 18:00 (6 pm) Monday to Friday.  You may be required to work overtime
