Job Description


Our research explores global health governance and architecture, responses to disease threats and access to health products and services. Our projects range from One Health, Public Health Surveillance Data Sharing and Anatomy of Healthcare in Conflict. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team to work on some of the most critical issues global health.

As a Research Analyst you will be responsible for contributing to the research output, the development and the smooth running of the Programme through the provision of research; administration and management of research activities and outputs; proposal and budget development, fundraising, accounting and reporting; and oversight of research contributions from interns.

You will work with colleagues to plan and execute project activities including the timely execution of and international and domestic events, and associated research. Specific duties include:

Project Management

You will help develop the programme work streams, planning project objectives, impact, outputs and timelines, and identifying potential improvements to processes and implementing any approved changes. Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist with preparing proposals and fundraising applications
  • Liaise with public health experts across a range of sectors including government, academia, NGOs, companies and partner institutes.
  • Collaborate with other research departments across the House on projects and initiatives


  • Act as rapporteur for meetings of the programme in specialist areas of global health security
  • Support research activities through the compilation of literature reviews and research notes on specific issues
  • Present research findings in different formats, such as written reports or presentations, graphs or other visuals/infographics
  • Contribute to research publications concerning areas of One Health and the wider topic
  • Research and identify potential new work streams and collaborators
  • Stay on top of developments in key within the field including key documents of the World Health Organisations and prominent global health journals
  • Liaise with relevant authorities working in NGOs, academia, think tanks and policy institutes on the development and execution of research projects
  • Write expert comments on topical global health issues in your areas of expertise
  • Research sources for accurate factual material, finds suitable contributors to programmes or print features

Fundraising and Finance

  • Assist with preparation of proposals and applications for funding
  • Prepare narrative and financial reports to donors
  • Monitor budgeted income and expenditure and the disbursement of funds according to project budgets and the Finance Department’s financial reports

Publications and Communications

Responsibilities in this area of the role include:

  • Draft dissemination plans for programme activities and prepare marketing materials for distribution amongst relevant partners
  • Liaise with the Communications Department for film or audio research output as well as website development
  • Support and develop and maintain the programme’s webpages, twitter account and other publicity vehicles

Other Responsibilities
We expect you will also build and deepen relationships with new and existing contacts and other key external organizations. Additionally, you will provide additional support to colleagues when required, and hiring, mentoring and supporting interns.


We are looking for people who are collaborators and thrive in a busy team environment. You will have a strong background in health-related research as well as demonstrable skills in running successful projects and events.

Essential Experience/Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree (e.g. Masters or equivalent) in public health, infectious diseases or related fields
  • Solid experience drafting project proposals; running project budgets; reporting to funders
  • Good knowledge of One Health
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to write and speak persuasively
  • Previous experience of writing successful funding applications and proposal documents

Essential Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a willingness to work as part of a team
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, databases, email marketing software, and project management software
  • Excellent budgeting and finance skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Self-reliance and good judgement

Desirable Experience

  • Experience overseeing and mentoring junior staff/interns/volunteers
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a global policy context
  • Experience working in event management roles
