We are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Officer  to join our internationally recognised team within the Centre of Maternal and Newborn Health.  We require a candidate with a distinguished track record in technical assistance, programme management and capacity development to develop and implement high quality programmes in the area of Human Resources for Health (HRH) for Maternal and Newborn Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health. – Ref 1142

The Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health (CMNH) at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) offers unique expertise in using the rigorous discipline of research to inform teaching and technical assistance programmes to improve the health of mothers and babies globally. As a leading global centre of excellence for maternal and newborn health we aim to:

  • Improve the availability and quality of healthcare for mothers and babies
  • Contribute to a global reduction in maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity and improvement in quality of life.

Due to the recognised success and impact of our work we are looking to recruit a Senior Technical Officer to join our internationally recognised team. We require a candidate with a distinguished track record in technical assistance, programme management and capacity development to develop and implement high quality programmes in the area of Human Resources for Health (HRH) for Maternal and Newborn Health and Sexual and Reproductive Health. The post holder will focus on contributing towards a sound business strategy and plan for CMNH for the expansion of work in the area of HRH for MNH and SRH, identifying relevant funding and business opportunities.

Ideal candidates will be educated to Degree Level (or equivalent) in Social Sciences and hold a Masters level degree in a relevant subject area. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of providing high quality technical assistance at international, regional and national level. You will need to have excellent communication, presentation and leadership skills in order to lead and manage consultancy and technical assistance teams in this role. With strong negotiation and interpersonal skills we will also require the successful candidate to have experience of liaising with government ministries and agencies in a variety of country settings, bilateral donors and UN organisations.
