With over 3,000 stores across the UK – all serviced by a fleet of around 2,500 vehicles, our transport planning team have a huge job on their hands making sure the operation runs as smoothly as possible. And now we’re looking to recruit a talented planning administrator to join us, and help us keep make sure our customers and members can always get their hands on the products they love and need most.
As a transport planning administrator, you’ll play a key role within the team; analysing accurate and cost-effective store delivery routes for the national Co-op transport operation. You’ll be responsible for creating transport plans using professional planning software and making sure crucial deadlines are met every day. We’ll look to you to support with maintaining key systems and managing important data using a variety of spreadsheets. You’ll also work closely with people across the operation, making sure any changes to schedules are communicated quickly and clearly every time. It’s a big job. And an even greater opportunity to progress and make a real impact to our operation whilst delivering continuous improvement initiatives every single day.
What you’ll do:
  • constantly analyse and identify more efficient store delivery routes for Co-op depots that reduce delivery times and costs
  • look for continuous improvement initiatives across the operation
  • continually meet deadlines to ensure the operation runs as smoothly as possible
  • make sure all delivery route plans take any restricting factors into consideration, such as height restricted roads, complex locations and loading areas
  • analyse data to identify any trends or themes with reoccurring issues
To be successful, you’ll need to be confident using MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel. If you’ve got experience in a planning role, and you understand logistics networks and systems, this would be a real bonus. But as long as you can demonstrate great communication skills and excellent attention to detail in order to help us plan our routes accurately, you’ll thrive in our fast-paced and energetic team.

  • you’ve got strong administration skills
  • you’re proficient using Microsoft office and tools
  • you’re very organised and you’re confident working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • you have great attention to detail and you can easily spot gaps, errors and mistakes
  • you’re ideally from a logistics background, this would be a huge advantage but not essential
