This programme is designed to develop your skills in beauty therapy and provide a foundation for further study, enabling you to perform basic services and assist others in the salon.
What does the programme include ?
The programme includes an introduction to manicure, pedicure, nail art, skin care, make-up, photographic make-up and face painting plus essential core units including health and safety.
What attendance is required ?
Your programme is full-time over one year. The exact days and times depend on the timetable but you can expect to attend for a minimum of 15 hours a week. You may be able to fast track through, depending on your level of competence.
Learning and assessment
Throughout the programme you will be assessed regularly against the standards set down by VTCT, the examining body. These assessments will be pre-arranged and will be as unobtrusive as possible. You will also sit one written assessment paper. You will be given assignments throughout the programme, with plenty of help and guidance to support you to achieve the qualification.
What qualifications will be achieved ?
Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.
What is required to join the programme ?
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade A*-E, including Maths and English. A good standard of written and spoken English is helpful. Science is also desirable but not essential. You should also have a record of good attendance and punctuality. You will need to purchase a kit containing all equipment and clothing needed.
What can be achieved after the programme ?
You will have the opportunity to progress onto Level 2 Diploma Beauty Specialist Techniques or move into employment in an assisting role.
