Who is the programme for ?
This programme is designed for those who wish to enter a specialist area of employment within the Sport, Fitness and Leisure and Public Service industry or to progress on to Level 2 study in Exercise, Health and Fitness Instructing or Public Services.
What does the programme include ?
This is a work-related programme that includes a combination of practical and theoretical units including:
Health and Safety;
Active Healthy Living;
Developing self discipline;
Participate in adventurous activities;
Participate in competitive sports;
Map reading and navigation.
What attendance is required ?
You will be required to attend College approximately 16 hours a week over 3 days for one year.
Learning and assessment
Most practical lessons will be based in the College’s new Sports Centre. Level 1 assessment will focus on the following:
Test of knowledge;
All units will be assessed by your tutor.
What qualifications will be achieved ?
You will achieve the Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Uniformed Services, which includes a suite of nationally recognised additional qualifications, including the Level 1 Award in Assisting Health Related Activity Sessions, Level 1 Award in Active Healthy Living, Level 1 Award in Lifestyle management, and Functional Skills in Maths and English.
