This course is designed for those wishing to undertake an introductory course to develop their music technology skills and knowledge. It provides the foundations of theory and practice within the industry, focusing on the development of the skills you will need to successfully work as a recording musician, studio engineer or DJ.
If you are interested in music technology, recording and production, electronic music or sound engineering – then this course is for you. We aim to provide you with the flexibility and skills needed for success in the music industry. Many of our students go onto continue their music technology education on level 3 courses such as the BTEC national in music technology and then on to higher education to specialize in sound and music production or live sound. This one year programme consists of two qualifications taught in bite-size chunks, meaning that you will gain qualifications as you progress rather than just at the end.
On successful completion you will have achieved the level 1 Award in Music Technology, and the level 2 Diploma in Music, and may progress to:
- a level 3 music course such as the BTEC National in Music or Music Technology or an A Level in Music
- employment or freelance work in a wide range of areas of the music industry or related vocational area.
