Why consider a career in fostering?
Your commitment to caring for young people in Southend could earn you up to £25,000 per year.
Southend Fostering Service is Southend On Sea Borough Council’s own fostering service and aims to provide safe, high quality, family-based care for children and young people who can’t live with their own families through our growing team of over one hundred foster carers. Children in care come from all sections of the local Southend community and, to better meet their needs, Southend on Sea Borough Council’s Fostering Service actively recruit foster carers from all sections of the community too. We would love to hear from you regardless of your age, sexuality, marital status, social, economic or ethnic background.
All our approved Foster Carer’s receive a generous allowance, ranging from £125 to £205 per week depending on age, to cover the expenses for each child placed with them, they also have the support of their own Supervising Social Worker, a 24 hour support line from the Fostering Service and a number of peer support groups run through the Southend Foster Families Council. Once experienced there is also the possibility to move onto one of our fee paid schemes where, as well as the allowance for each child, carers can receive a fee which ranges from £1,000 a month to £25,000 a year depending upon the number, age and life-stories of the children you are approved to care for.
