Who is the programme for ?
This programme is designed for those who wish to enter into employment in the Sport and Leisure industry. Other students may wish to extend the knowledge they have gained from previous study such as the VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Exercise, Health and Fitness Instruction.
What does the programme include ?
This is a vocational, work related programme that includes a combination of practical and theory units including:
Principles of Anatomy and Physiology;
Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health;
Programming and Delivering Personal Training Sessions and applying Sports Massage Techniques.
You will also have the opportunity of completing additional qualifications.
What attendance is required ?
You will be required to attend College approximately 16 hours per week over 3 days for one year.
Learning and assessment
Level 3 assessments will focus on the following:
Written tasks, test of knowledge, practical demonstrations and task based controlled assessment. All units are internally verified.
What qualifications will be achieved ?
You will achieve both a VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training and VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy. These are nationally recognised qualifications within the industry and allow entry on to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and the Sports Massage Association (SMA) at Level 3.
What is required to join the programme ?
You will require a VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Exercise, Health and Fitness Instruction or equivalent Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification. You will also require English and Maths at Level 2.
What can be achieved after the programme ?
Students may enter into employment or look to a higher level of education such as Level 4 specialist programmes or a Foundation Degree.
